“Push Energy’s in-depth understanding of the solar sector and Buzzflyer’s pedigree in UAV design and operations make for a strong partnership in this dynamic sector”, says Will Hitchcock, Managing Director of the new venture.

Push Energy and Buzzflyer have joined forces to form Above Surveying, an aerial thermographic inspection service company specialising in solar PV.

Above Surveying enters the market with a service incorporating its Geo-referencing Aerial Pyranometer technology.

The new firm says it combines its self developed technology and UAV platform, unique inspection method and specially designed analysis software to provide an accurate, consistent and valuable service which goes beyond the limits of traditional ground based thermography and eyeball inspection typically relied upon throughout the industry.

This new offering is said to deliver valuable benefits to all stakeholders, from asset owners to O&M technicians, enabling them to quickly understand, pinpoint and resolve anomalies and defects across vast areas of solar panels, so ensuring optimum performance.

Geo-referencing Aerial Pyranometer (GAP) technology is said to support a new and innovative approach to solar plant inspection.

Above Surveying’s unique Geo-referencing Aerial Pyranometer (GAP) technology – patent pending – is described as a new and highly innovative approach to inspection and analysis which allows Above Surveying to accurately capture irradiance data which is then combined with thermographic imagery and temperature gradient information to methodically categorise changes and defects right down to the cell level across an entire solar plant. This controlled and scientific approach brings a new level of precision to aerial thermographic surveying.

Comprehensive and easy access to the data is also a key part of the service to the client using Above Surveying’s own portal which allows clients to access all geo-referenced, high resolution imagery and reports via any internet connected device, whether in the office or out on the solar site.

Will Hitchcock, Managing Director of Above Surveying says: “Push Energy’s in-depth understanding of the solar sector and Buzzflyer’s pedigree in UAV design and operations make for a strong partnership in this dynamic sector.”

“We are extremely excited about this new venture which we believe will deliver significant benefits to those wanting to maximize the performance of their solar assets. “

“Our experience shows that even a solar plant with zero string errors and a healthy performance ratio will almost certainly have a surprising number of defective modules. Our unique technology allows us to identify and categorise these defects with speed and efficiency so they can be addressed and optimum performance restored.
