Prize winners in the fourth annual awards run by US publication Environmental Leader were announced on 22 June in Denver, Colorado and included 3M’s Petrifilm Plates, AkzoNobel’s Marine Coatings business’s carbon credits scheme, and the EC4P management system run by Wiltshire based BOMcheck.

The Environmental Leader Product & Project Awards aim to recognise excellence in the fields of environmental, sustainability and energy management.

A rundown of the winning entries is available here.

BOMcheck’s EC4P management system is a confidential web application which is said to guarantee manufacturer compliance with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations, batteries regulations and packaging regulations in all 28 EU Member States as well as European Free Trade Association countries.

The judges said: “The solution simplifies the regulatory complexity. Excellent design, proof beyond concept, and client testimonials. Any product that can demonstrably prove that time can be saved and efficiencies gained for data collation and reporting — especially across multiple sectors and geographies — has my vote.” Kerrill Grealy, HSE Director at Meggitt Sensing Systems said: “EC4P’s WEEE, Batteries and Packaging management tools are an indispensable service in meeting product compliance requirements and the burden of compliance in terms of cost & time are significantly reduced in what is a constantly-changing situation across participating Member States”.
