STRAIGHT plc, the environmental products and services group, has won a new contract from May Gurney for a recycling and waste service for Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Worth more than £800,000 the deal will see Straight manufacture and supply almost 400,000 recycling containers including kerbside boxes and food waste caddies to residents.
As part of the new contract, May Gurney will introduce a weekly dry recycling and food waste collection that will cover more than 147,000 properties in the area. Residents will each receive two 55-litre kerbside boxes to collect dry recyclables, a 7-litre caddy for food waste and a 23-litre caddy to store collected food waste outside the home.
The service will transform the area’s three existing kerbside recycling collections into a single borough-wide operation. The council believes it will help meet its target of delivering higher recycling rates, improved service and value for money.
