ROAD sweepings from the Midlands are to be recycled rather than sent to landfill following installation of a recycling plant at a SITA UK site in Wolverhampton.
Prior to installation of the CDEnviro plant Neatchells Lane facility, all the material that currently passed was taken directly to landfill. It is now estimated that 98% of the road sweepings will be recycled for use in various products including sand, washed aggregate and compostable material.
Tim Hughes, strategic development manager at SITA, said: “Prior to purchasing the plant we examined the other recycling plant offerings in the market but after visiting other CDEnviro installations we were satisfied that theirs was the technically superior option.”
