AN engineering firm has unveiled its new wind turbine tower, a 20-metre structure manufactured for US business Bergey Windpower.
Two towers have been installed on agricultural land in Herefordshire and Shropshire, each accommodating 10kW turbines and constructed to benefit from higher wind speeds at an elevated 20-metre height.
Dean Drinkwater, managing director of Hutchinson Engineering, said: “We have designed bespoke 12-metre and 15-metre wind turbine towers for Bergey but this is the first time we have custom-built a 20-metre structure.
“The monopole has a smaller footprint than lattice towers, it is easy to install with the hydraulic ram, and the design is aesthetically pleasing to minimise the impact on the environment and visually enhance the surrounding landscape,” he claimed.
