CONSTRUCTION firm Skanska has launched a green fund to help the industry invest in cost-saving technology and initiatives.
The fund is a joint venture between Skanska, the so-called ‘greenest company in the UK’, and CO2Sense, a not-for-profit, low-carbon company which helps organisations improve environmental performance.
Following an initial injection of cash the pot will grow year by year as it receives payback from successful green ventures. The contractor’s project and bid teams can apply for seed funding of up to £25,000 to invest in environmental options that are attractive to clients. Ideas can include any innovative product, technology, service or process that will reduce carbon, use less energy, water and raw materials, or produce less waste.
