THE search has started for the nation’s most efficient and sustainable manufacturers.
EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, and ENER-G have launched an environment category as part of the fifth annual Future Manufacturing Awards, with companies eligible to win two prizes at regional and national level.
The Environmental Efficiency Award will go to the company that has done the most to improve its own environmental performance and reduce its carbon footprint while improving its operational efficiency.
The Sustainable Manufacturing Award is a new addition to the scheme and is introduced to acknowledge initiatives to improve sustainability, which could include introducing processes to reduce environmental impact and or delivery of a corporate social responsibility programme. Contenders will be those businesses that have made significant investment of resource and/or time to seek a more sustainable future.
