Two years to go for Lancaster sewers

WORK has started on the first phase of a two-year improvement of Lancaster’s sewerage system.

The £18m project by United Utilities will upgrade the sewer network and improve the water quality in the River Lune. New underground storage tanks will be built and pipes laid to update the Victorian system.
Project manager Dawn Harrington said the work will allow sewers to hold more storm water and will help protect the environment.
