KSB has received the German energy efficiency prize “Perpetuum 2014” for its economical electric motor for pumps.
The body of experts from the DENEFF initiative commended the SuPremE motor as an exciting innovation in energy efficiency.
The synchronous reluctance motor achieves high efficiencies while also operating at low speed, which sets it apart from common electric drives. In addition, it does away with the need for magnetic materials, which are used for conventional synchronous motors. These materials are made from rare earths whose extraction causes considerable environmental impacts in their countries of origin.
