North-east water boost

NORTHUMBRIAN Water’s Warkworth Water Treatment Works (WTW) is set to undergo a £2.2million refurbishment to help maintain and enhance drinking water quality for the future.
The work will involve renewing water pumps, filters and computer control stations.
Warkworth WTW treats up to 42 million litres of water every day and supplies 92,000 customers.
Work began on Monday, January 12, and is expected to take up to nine months to complete.
A spokesman said: “The treatment works will remain fully operational while we upgrade the site and there won’t be any impact on the water service we provide to customers as a result.”
