Wind-powered isle gets rapid EV chargers

EV charger on Orkney

Energy Saving Trust (EST) has recently funded the installation of a tri-rapid charger for electric vehicles (EVs) at car dealership John G Shearers and Sons in Kirkwall, on Orkney. With its abundance of clean wind energy, Orkney is an ideal environment for electric vehicles, and this installation could help to accelerate EV uptake.
According to EST, the charger will make commutes between the island’s two main towns – Kirkwall and Stromness – a breeze.
This charger is compatible with all current electric vehicle models with rapid charge capabilities, including the Nissan Leaf, BMWi3, Renault Zoe and Mitsubishi Outlander.
