German instruments firm GRIMM has released the EDM265, which provides real-time monitoring of particle number and particle size in addition to information on particle surface distribution and dust mass distribution.
The EDM264 is presented as an optimal solution for both short- and long-term mobile measurements in outdoor areas and at production sites.
The measurement mechanism is based on optical particle counting (OPC) technology. It is incorporated in a compact, weatherproof housing equipped with a heated sampling inlet, sigma 2-head, a data-logger and meteorological sensor.
The EDM264 provides all fine dust fractions for ambient air measurements: TSP, PM10, PM4, PM2.5, PM1, and PMcoarse. These are calculated using a proprietary enviro algorithm. There are six additional dust mass fractions: PM10, PM2.5, PM1, inhalable, thoracic and respirable. These are applicable to IAQ and workplace measurements
The EDM264 has 31 equidistant size channels, which are PSL-traceable.
A high-end data logger enables data acquisition and wireless communication via LTE, WLAN or wired via Ethernet. Backup copies of the measurement data are stored directly in the device.
The rinsing air function, which protects the illumination and detection optics in the optical cell, increases the reliability and long-term stability of the system. The entire sample volume flow of 1.2 L/min is analysed in the optical cell, providing excellent counting efficiency at low and high concentrations.
