Carbon catchers raise CO2 awareness

A group of artists and scientists were attempting to raise the profile of CO2 emissions and climate change during the Edinburgh Festival in August by collecting CO2 data wirelessly from points around the city and from roving ‘carbon catchers’.

Each sensor was connected to an Envirologger wireless node which, in this application, transmitted the data via licence-free radio to a central gateway/transceiver that fed the data to a cloud server which, in turn, transmitted live CO2 readings to the environmental artists.
Mini computers will then use LED displays and sound synthesis to express the data and reveal how it changes through the days and weeks.
