Advanced wastewater treatment technology firm hires new CEO

Nuvoda, a provider of advanced solutions for biological process systems in water and wastewater treatment, has appointed Zain Mahmood as its new Chief Executive Officer. With more than 25 years of experience developing and marketing industrial, manufacturing, and environmental technology solutions, Mahmood brings proven business leadership and category acumen to Nuvodam says the firm.

Previously, Mahmood served as CEO of Parkson, a leader in advanced solutions in water and wastewater treatment technology. Mahmood has also served as the President of ICP Construction – a leading Construction Chemicals Company in Andover, Mass. Over his career, Mahmood has held leadership positions in large, blue-chip companies including Johns Manville (A Berkshire Hathaway Company), GCP Applied Technology (spinoff from WR GRACE), ABB and Allied-Signal (currently Honeywell).

“Nuvoda is on the cusp of a significant commercial breakthrough,” said Mahmood. “The company’s unique MOB® (Mobile Organic BioFilm) process technology is taking off as a highly attractive, sustainable option for water and wastewater treatment facilities in the U.S. and around the world. Our goal is to identify key markets and position Nuvoda for significant growth in those markets.”

Simultaneously, Nuvoda announces the appointment of Jason Calhoun as the new Chief Technology Officer. Jason has served as the Head of Business Development and Technology for Nuvoda for seven years and is also known as the “father” of the proprietary MOB® technology.

Worth Harris, Chairman of Nuvoda, noted, “Zain’s background in water and wastewater treatment technology, along with his strong track record of building winning teams and driving growth, make him a great fit as the new leader for Nuvoda. This is a pivotal time for Nuvoda as we successfully commercialize our proprietary MOB® process that reduces the cost of operating municipal and industrial wastewater plants.”
