Environmental services firm ACOEM UK has been stepping up its commitment to actively pursuing carbon emission reductions over the last 12 months. “We joined the pledgetonetzero earlier in the year and as part of this, we have signed up to setting scientific-based targets to reduce our footprint and to publicly report our progress,” says a statement from the group. “At times it has been a confusing array of information that we have sifted through to try to find the right path. We have mapped out our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions which were relatively straightforward to identify but now we are in the process of reaching out to our supply chain to understand the impact each of those organisations has on our Scope 3. Believe me, this is not an easy task!”
Off the back of COP26, there has been a lot of talk about how the world leaders are making changes to keep the global temperature increases within 1.5ºC and if they have committed enough. Pledges have been made around reducing methane emissions, deforestation, financing and phasing down coal usage and we can debate whether these actions are strong enough but at the other end of the spectrum, as individuals and organisations, we also have a role to play. As we begin 2022, it is time to take stock of our net-zero journey.
We want to help raise awareness of climate change and actively focus on small, incremental changes to make a positive impact. If you would like to follow our journey and learn from our mistakes along the way, please follow us on Linkedin.
