A planning submission is expected at the end of the year as Bristol Water continues to firm up proposals for a £100m reservoir at Cheddar.
Stage two public consultation is planned to take place at the end of June. The project team will take the results of the first phase and develop the plans to present more detailed proposals.
The water company has published a summary of the feedback from recent consultation which saw three public exhibitions staged. Nearly 500 people attended and the key issues identified were amenity uses of the new reservoir, traffic impact during construction, and the environmental impact. Respondents were said to be “largely very happy” with the proposals as they stand. Visual appearance is very important to residents and the majority would like to see the reservoir designed to be as natural in appearance as possible.
