RICARDO-AEA has been awarded a three-year contract to provide city-wide air quality monitoring and data analysis for Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh – the work will provide a robust evidence base to help the city’s development authority make environmental improvements.
Ricardo-AEA is working in collaboration with air monitoring equipment supplier Envirozone LLC to develop a comprehensive air monitoring network consisting of 17 air monitoring stations across the city. The “world class” network will measure a wide range of pollutants, making nearly 10 million discrete measurements throughout the duration of the contract. Ricardo-AEA will monitor the network’s data, reviewing, interpreting and rapidly disseminating pollutant information. The information will enable the ArRiyadh Development Authority to understand how pollution is being formed in the city and take targeted steps to improve air quality.
Ricardo-AEA is also delivering a training programme to enhance the technical capabilities of the Authority’s air quality team.
