SLR strengthens due diligence capabilities in Africa

Harraway brings 18 years’ global multi-disciplinary environmental management consultancy experience to the role of Technical Discipline Manager at SLR’s Johannesburg office.

SLR Consulting has strengthened its advisory services offering in Africa with the appointment of transaction due diligence expert Trevor Harraway.
A specialist in post-deal integration, project management and environmental and social governance (ESG) auditing, Trevor joins SLR as Technical Discipline Manager in the Johannesburg office, South Africa, and is tasked with expanding the company’s due diligence capabilities in – and outside – the Africa region.
Trevor has 18 years’ global multi-disciplinary environmental management consultancy experience in technical, environmental and social governance due diligence and his expertise ranges from trade and sustainable finance due diligence through to risk analysis and environmental liability assessments. This senior hire reinforces SLR’s commitment to provide high quality consultancy services on a global basis.
Prior to joining the company, Trevor was at ERM, Johannesburg, where he led a number of high profile, multi-country and multi-site portfolio vendor and pre-acquisition due diligence assignments for major mining, real estate, manufacturing, oil and gas, power, logistics, automotive, and Africa-focussed private equity and DFI clients.
He also represented ERM’s Low Carbon Enterprise Fund in South Africa and previously held senior advisory roles at company’s including mining consultants SRK Consulting Engineers and WSP Environmental, commercial director at Argyll Environmental Ltd and, in 2009, set up Endiligence Environmental – a boutique environmental due diligence consultancy servicing clients in the oil and gas, automotive and real estate sectors.

Trevor, who holds an MSc in environmental geochemistry and a BSc in both hydrology and chemistry, is also highly proficient in international standards and guidelines for matters concerning Environmental and Social Governance, including IFC, World Bank and African Development Bank. His experience includes supporting the complex sale of platinum mining assets in South Africa, the private equity acquisition of a five-site petrochemical business in Egypt, food and beverage business in Ethiopia, and managing the due diligence of a portfolio of downstream oil and gas assets in Southern, West and East Africa.
