Ecosurety’s commercial director James Piper was on 10 June named Young Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors (IoD) South West Director of the Year Awards.

He will now represent the region at the IoD National Director of the Year Awards later this year.

The award is a career-defining moment for James, 28, who started at the resource efficiency specialist as a graduate trainee, and who has worked in in every department, including marketing, sales and IT.

Ecosurety has become one of the fastest-growing resource efficiency specialists in the UK, with 14 new graduates joining. Earlier this year it was awarded the coveted Investors in People Gold award, which is given to just seven percent of companies, and regularly lobbies the Government on waste and recycling issues.

Its non-for-profit journey-share scheme joinmyjourney, which James drove forward at board level, has been taken up by UWE, North Bristol NHS Trust as well as at Aztec West business park, where ecosurety is based.

James says, “I am completely bowled over to receive recognition from an organisation as prestigious as the IoD. It’s been an amazing experience to even get this far and to work with such a fantastic team that has supported me every step of the way in my career. I look forward to representing the South West in the national finals. “
