Meary Veg upgrade

KIRK Environmental, part of Kirk Group, has successfully upgraded the existing Meary Veg wastewater treatment works located in Santon, Isle of Man, for United Utilities.

The Isle of Man produces on average 15,500m³ of sewerage waste daily, of which 67% has to be treated at the Meary Veg site. For this project Kirk was assigned to design, supply and install four extra glass-fused-to-steel storage tanks: two sludge storage tanks, one thickened sludge storage tank and one septic tank.
All the tanks came completed with glass-fused-to-steel roofs.
Glass-fused-to-steel is a very unique tank finish, says Kirk, where two materials are fused together to achieve the best of both: the strength and flexibility of the steel combined with the corrosion resistance of the glass. Thanks to the factory applied coating process involved in the preparation of this tank technology, the customer will benefit from a consistent quality that is not dependent on site conditions, also ensuring long term aesthetics and reduced maintenance costs.
